Lots of new titles and classics in the Seafarers' Library
Librarian and consultant Irene Olsen, who is responsible for the library, strives to ensure that new titles are also available to seafarers on Danish-flagged ships.
In early November, she attended the annual Bogforum book fair at the Bella Center in Copenhagen. Both to attend readings and lectures, but also to buy new titles for the library.
"We strive to always have a wide selection of books that we can send out to the ships and the seafarers. Bogforum in particular is a good opportunity to buy a lot of new books in both Danish and English. I ended up buying 400 new books, mainly in English, because they were cheaper," says Irene Olsen.
This year, Irene will send a total of more than 9,000 books to ships and depots in ports in Europe, Africa, and Asia. That's more books than last year. Each package of books is sent by arrangement with the recipient.
